New Years Day Blues

New Years Day 2012 was not kind to us, but when you cannot score in a goalless draw, get the 1 point at least.   While controversy over the last second goal that won it for Sunderland will be in our minds, City were not spectacular to begin with, and neither were Sunderland.

Match Stats:

Time Of Possession:  69 %

Shots (on Goal) : 27(5)

Corners: 10

We showed that we controlled the ball, but could not do anything with it.  Dzeko lacking confidence in his face would have scored a ton if the goal was to kick it into the stands.  The closest we came was a beautiful header by substitute Micah Richards that unfortunately hit the bar.

This was a great game to take advantage of all the others clubs losing this holiday, but it just was not to be.  Like Mancini said, we needed it, but it's over and one, time to move on.   There was so much anger on twitter after the match I had to just turn it off.  I know the players felt bad enough, and some of the abuse was just awful.   In 2 days we will see what kind of mental toughness the players have when they face a Suarez-less Liverpool squad at Eastlands.
