Sometimes You Get Knocked Down

Some people may say this is what we get for making mistakes, a loss to Chelsea.  I think it was a stinging loss, but a loss that the team may have well needed.  They needed to get knocked down to show there are clubs behind them creeping up.  The defense needs to wake up, stop dreaming about trophies.  City may have the most brilliant, at times, goal scorers but that doesn't mean everything is going to be on easy mode.  This isn't FIFA 12, this is the Premiership.

It looked like it was going to be our way today with a quick goal by Maestro Balotelli.  The rain was coming down very steady and that can wreak havoc on any player.  The score quickly turned 1-1 in the first half when in the 34th minute Raul Meireles scored for Chelsea. This would not  be the first time Gael Clichy was beaten in the match and in the end it would cost City.  In the 47th minute he was booked with a yellow after pulling down Daniel Sturridge.  Eleven minutes later he trips Ramires and is seen a second yellow and off he went to the locker room.

I have seen some good stuff from Clichy this year, but those two cards were just dumb.  The second even more considering there were 3 other defenders near the ball.  Apparently his lapse in judgement was spread to Joleon Lescott because in the 82nd minute he would raise his arms and get a handball from a Daniel Sturridge kick.  Unbelievable!  Frank Lampard would finish it with a solid Penalty Kick over Joe Hart for the eventual winning goal.

The critics last season said we didn't score enough and were too defensive, this season we score so much that Joe Hart cannot seem to buy a clean sheet because our defenders are asleep .  This was a slap in the face to the team.  They needed to come back down a little bit because they are forgetting about the fundamentals.  The season is like a long war, each match a battle.  Today it was lost, but the war is not over and with each coming match City best be prepared to defend  defend defend !
